What is Breathwork?
Breathwork is an energizing type of meditation that helps you release stress and anxiety. Following a specific breathing pattern for just 30 minutes is like hitting the reset button on your brain. Breathing this way allows you to bring in more oxygen, decreasing the carbon dioxide levels in your blood. This increases activity in certain areas of your brain and reduces it in others. One key area that experiences decreased activity is the prefrontal cortex – the processing part where all of the chatter happens. Breathwork quiets it down, enabling the rest of the body to relax and let go of stuck tension and emotions. After just one session, clients report feeling more calm, centered, and resilient in the face of life’s ups and downs. The results are undeniable.
My name is Barbara Jensen and I founded Hopewell Breathwork to try to bring the magic of conscious connected breathing to as many people as I possibly can.

The first time I tried it, I had no idea what to expect. At the beginning of the class, the instructor offered an eye mask, but then she said some people don’t like them because they get wet when they cry. I thought, “I’m not gonna cry.” Well, let me tell you, I ate my words. It was one of the most profound experiences of my life. The next morning, I woke up a different and better person. Breathwork has continued to improve every single aspect of my life. Soon I decided I would become certified so that I could introduce other people to it. My experience may not be typical, but it’s possible. If you can keep an open mind, there just might be something in it for you.
I was certified as a Breathwork instructor by J.P. Crimi who has been leading Breathwork classes for over 20 years. The class he first went to was, as he described it, “very woo woo” so he modernized it and created a unique style that is efficient, effective, and enjoyable.
